Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV
During the Exodus, the Lord wanted to dwell among His people and gave instructions for building the tabernacle (Exodus 25:8-9). See how His tabernacle was built with all the best items: gold, silver, bronze, fine linen, gemstones, etc. (Exodus 25:3-7). That was just the tabernacle. Later, when Solomon started building the Temple of God, he not only got the best materials but also the best craftsmen (2 Chronicles 2), and then said, “This must be a magnificent Temple because our God is greater than all other gods” (2 Chronicles 2:5 NLT). Both the tabernacle and the temple were built directly from blueprints given by God Himself. If God considered these places where He would reside and made them so grand, then how much grander are you, in whom the Holy Spirit has desired to dwell?
As the temple of God, it is important that you take care of yourself. It is the devil’s desire that you perish, and he will also make you think that you are deserving of nothing but harm. Whether the devil tries to convince you to cut yourself, starve yourself, overeat, give yourself to anyone and everyone, or go without sleep night after night, wise up and know that you deserve to be whole and healthy. Beyond being something you deserve, taking care of yourself shows the value God has placed on you by choosing to dwell in you.
Take care of your body, mind, soul, and spirit, for you are the habitation of God. God’s saving power is strong enough to help you overcome the thoughts of the enemy. No matter how loud the devil gets, ground yourself, knowing that it’s only noise intended to distract you and keep you in the shackles of guilt and shame. It only takes one second to make a decision that restarts your counter. Remain vigilant; remain sober. Every day you make it through is a new record for you.
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
Romans 8:18 NIV
